Unwanted Pests and Diseases of Radiata Pine - Field Handbook

Project description:

There is no single source of information on the potential pests and diseases of Pinus radiata in New Zealand. Such field guide would raise the awareness among foresters and members of the public of unwanted forest pests. The Forest Sector is constantly told of the threats from gypsy moth, Asian gypsy moth, pitch canker, etc, but few would know what they look like; what the symptom are, possible pathway of entry in to New Zealand, and where to look for them if they did establish. A simple field guide would offer the best solution.

This field handbook will bring together information from the Forest Health groups publications and archival material into a readily accessible format. Material would also be sourced from overseas colleages. This format has previously been supported by the Forest Health Research Collaborative (Bulletin 207) and a funding application has been submitted.
